Construction Connection: BMC Installs Jerry Tarkanian Statue
November 25, 2013

Boyd Martin Construction recently completed the installation of a 2,000-lb. bronze statue of Jerry Tarkanian on UNLV's main campus at 4505 S Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas. The project required demolition and new construction needed to set the statue, which was created by sculptor Brian Hanlon.
The $150,000 statue honoring legendary UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian took 200 hours of sculpting and 600lbs of clay to create the model. During 19 years at the help of the Runnin' Rebels (1973-1992), Tarkanian took four temas to the NCAA Final Four, winning the national championship in 1990.
Located at the base of the stairs to the 12-year-old, 2,500-seat Cox Pavilion, the exhibit includes radius masonry walls with 8,000 lbs. of granite decorative commemorative panels.
